Hello 2012!

I've heard a lot of people say "good riddance to 2011!"...for me I'm sad to see it go by so fast! 2011 was a fantastic year for my little family. Moving back to the States from Kuwait, making instant friends, finding a good home church, and watching Jerrett blossom as he makes friends and goes to school...I couldn't have asked for a better year!

2012 is already starting out fantastically but will still have to try and top 2011! So far this new year has brought us our first home purchase! We're all very excited and can't wait for the process to be over which should be in a few weeks!

Happy New Year!

happy 4th of july

2 hours ago jerrett tells me that we need 4th of july decorations and that "we're obligated as americans" to celebrate the holiday. i couldn't agree more! i scavenged the house for anything red, white and blue! used this tutorial for the bunting. stars are cut from cardstock and then glued to the windows with a glue stick. the leftover pieces of bunting are on the kitchen table with whatever else i could find in the house that was red, white and blue: 2 vintage enamelware serving dishes, ribbon, vintage milkglass vase, mini flag, and heart shaped glass stones. jerrett gives it all 2 thumbs up and says "we're patriotic now!" i hope that everyone has a safe holiday! be careful with the fireworks!

just a reminder that there are items in the shop! i'll soon be adding a baby quilt too! stop on over!

Etsy Shop! Pinks is open!

Come visit me at my Etsy shop! There's only 2 things listed in there right now but I'm working on more!

Opening soon!

After some thought and my hubby constantly saying "so, when are you going to open you an Etsy shop?" I've decided to finally open one! It's not going to be anything fancy or have a theme...just whatever I feel like making and sticking in there! I just don't want to get burnt out too fast! I want this experience to be enjoyable; not like the last time back in 2006 when it felt more like a chore.

Can anyone help me with designing a logo and Etsy header? I could but I don't have the capability to draw my design.

Baby Bibs

My best friend is having a baby boy very soon! I'm VERY excited to say the least! If she wasn't in a different state I'd already be there helping her out even though he's not supposed to be here until August! So, as any "auntie" would do I'm making things! I've got a knitting project going but it's just too darn hot to knit so sewing it is! These are just a few bibs made using my go-to bib pattern from Chickpea Sewing Studio. Many more baby gifts to come!

Quick & Easy

My few months old dryer is getting all scratched up from the multiple laundry baskets being set on top to other stuff. Buying a large appliance like a washer/dryer set is not cheap so I want to keep it in nice condition. It hit me today while I was putting stuff in the dryer that I could make a little cozy for it! This is a very quick and easy little project! I measured the length and width of the top of my dryer, added a seam allowance for the sides and a few inches (plus seam allowance) extra to hang over the side. I first hemmed the edges lengthwise then made a larger hem on the ends to be a "pocket" to hold my magnets. The magnets are some that I've only kept around because they're functional, not pretty but I'm sure you could buy some. I left the "pocket" hem open on the sides so I could easily slip the magnets out if I ever needed to wash it. Insert your magnets so that the right sides (the side that'll "stick" to the metal) are facing the right direction and place evenly over your dryer! It slips some but that could easily be fixed with those rubber drawer liners or carpet backing.

Cozy on my dryer!
